Elkview, WV (WOAY) The Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office has identified the victim who passed away following a crash that happened on I-79 on Friday.
Authorities report that at approximately 11:38 p.m., a Chevrolet Silverado was traveling southbound on I-79 near the 9-mile marker when it exited the roadway and entered a construction zone.
The Silverado struck the rear of a parked dump truck, ejecting the driver, identified as 47-year-old Thomas Edward Wines of Charleston, who was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The unoccupied Silverado then re-entered the roadway and was struck by a southbound Toyota RAV4.
The driver and passenger of the RAV4 were not injured.
The Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office Reconstruction Team is investigating the crash.
The investigation remains ongoing.
