Marshall journalism Hall of Fame nomination deadline is soon

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (AP) — The deadline is next week for nominations for Marshall University’s W. Page Pitt School of Journalism and Mass Communications Hall of Fame.

Nominations will be accepted through March 12, the university said in a news release. Letters should be submitted by email highlighting nominees’ accomplishments and contributions.

Potential inductees should either have made a contribution to the profession of journalism or a positive impact upon the profession, or have made a contribution to Marshall University or the school, the release said.

The Hall of Fame was established in the 1970s and has 68 people enshrined.

Kassie Simmons joined the team in January 2019 as a weekend journalist. She graduated from Virginia Tech in just two and a half years with a BA in multimedia journalism. During her short time at Virginia Tech, she served as the editor for the university’s chapter of The Tab. Kassie was named the top reporter for The Tab at Virginia Tech on multiple occasions and made the list for the top 30 reporters for The Tab in the U.S. She also studied theater performance and minored in creative writing.
