The European model has backed off the rain quite a bit, for our area through the 7 day forecast. It is still showing the potential for rain Friday-Sunday, but now has the majority of our rain falling beyond that timeframe. We are still continuing to watch the propagation of Hurricane Polo, as the moisture from that will be key to when or if we get rain. The bulk of rain on Sunday being shown across the middle of the county will have a tropical influence from Polo, that could lead to heavy rain and flash flooding from New Mexico all the way into Kentucky and areas north. A warm front will orient a band of a rain west to east, until a cold front comes through and brings widespread rain into Kentucky. How that holds together and comes through West Virginia will determine how much rain we get and if the bulk goes into us or south.
Looking at the futurecast rainfall over the next 7 days from the European model and it is very volatile, showing quite a bit of rain north of our area yesterday to not much today. The GFS rainfall shows a lot more in our area as it has the majority of the rain coming in Saturday being heavier but still holding the bulk of our rain to after the 7 day forecast ends.
Taking a look at that full 7 day forecast and temperatures will warm up towards 80 on Wednesday through Friday. More clouds will come through our area Thursday through next Sunday than what we will see on Tuesday and Wednesday. Mostly sunny skies Tuesday will start to warm us up better across Southern West Virginia as lows also approach 60 by late week.
