Fayette County, WV (WOAY) – The Fayette County Vertical Rescue Team successfully extracted a patient with a broken leg deep in mountainous terrain.
The team, made up of members of fire departments around the county, was not able to easily move the victim out and had to use advanced rescue techniques.
First responders had to stabilize the open fracture and rig up a system to get the person down to the train tracks, where they were able to move him on a CSX vehicle to a waiting ambulance.
