Windy and Mild; Widespread Rain Starts Friday

WOAY-TV (Oak Hill, WV): After some lingering showers this morning, we’ll get back to the drier, milder, and uneventful weather we have been experiencing for the last couple of days. Winds will be whipping around the region through the day, gusting up to 25 miles per hour in some places. Conditions will continue to be mild and dry through Thursday as temperatures rise towards the 60-degree mark. However, this will be the best weather of the week as multiple low-pressure systems and a cold front throw multiple wrenches into the weekend. Meteorologist Christian Boteler has the details:

The first low-pressure system will start moving through the region Friday morning, bringing widespread showers along with it. A couple of isolated thunderstorms cannot be ruled out through the day, but the main player of this event is heavier rainfall. Rain will last through most of the day with potential for a couple of brief breaks before the first low-pressure system retreats to the east overnight.

That is not nearly the last of it, though, as the second low-pressure system will move through the region on Saturday. More widespread showers, isolated thunderstorms, and heavier pockets of rain will occur thanks to the system. Rainfall will be above an inch in most places and could eclipse 2 inches in some areas. Fortunately, flash flood guidance shows that the area will be able to deal with this rainfall pretty well. Besides some minor ponding of water, the region will benefit from the incoming rainfall.

If you though the rain would be the last of the active weather, think again. The second low-pressure system will drag a cold front through the region, dropping our temperatures significantly Sunday morning. With lingering showers popping in and out, we will see a switch to snow as the day progresses. Snowfall will be lighter and likely mixed in with rain, making for minimal impact. These lingering showers will leave in the evening, finally giving us a break for the first couple of days next week. Here’s your 7-Day Forecast:
