Governor Morrisey announces Dr. Patrick Miller as the first director of the Washington Center

Kanawha County, WV (WOAY) – On Wednesday, Governor Patrick Morrisey announced Dr. Patrick Lee Miller as the first director of the Washington Center for civics, culture, and statemanship at WVU.

The Washington Center was established last spring through House Bill 3297 and will receive 1.5 million in state funds. The goal of the center is to teach students to think critically about the building blocks of our nation and promote fact-based instruction.

Governor Morrisey praised Dr. Miller for his dedication to the job and his alignment with President Trump’s values against bias and promoting American values in higher education. Dr. Miller plans to expand learning opportunities on multiple subjects, including constitutional studies, political philosophy, and more, while exploring differing viewpoints.

Dr. Miller is from Duquesne University, where he has taught since 2012, and holds degrees from multiple universities.
