Water services restored at Mount Olive following main line leak

Mount Olive, WV (WOAY)- Normal water service is back up and running at Mount Olive Correctional Facility, after a coordinated response between utility crews and the Division of Corrections and Rehabilitation.

The issue began with a main line leak impacting the local Public Service District.

Crews worked quickly to fix the problem, which had disrupted water service to the prison.

During the outage, the Division of Corrections activated emergency protocols, distributing bottled water, setting up portable cooking facilities, and bringing in mobile hygiene stations to ensure the safety and well-being of those in custody.

DCR Commissioner David Kelly praised the effort, saying, We’re grateful for the teamwork among our staff, local officials, utility partners, and emergency responders. Their dedication allowed us to restore service quickly and safely.”

Service is now fully restored, and operations at the facility have returned to normal.
