We are seeing cloudy skies around the area this afternoon around the area and after some showers earlier in the day, more showers are in the forecast later tonight. Along with the rain, there could be some rumbles of thunder. The rain could be heavy in some areas, especially in the Greenbrier Valley and Southern Coalfields. We should be able to avoid significant flooding issues, but there will be the usual flooding in low lying spots and ponding on the roads.

By Saturday morning, some of the precipitation will fall in the wintry form, especially in the higher elevations.

The rain and snow should taper off by Saturday afternoon, and the second half of the weekend looks really nice with sunshine and highs in the upper 50s. Then comes Monday…a great day with highs in the lower 70s. There will be a small chance for showers and storms by the evening, and some of the storms Monday night and Tuesday morning could be on the strong side, but the strongest storms will be over the Ohio Valley.

The chance for rain lasts through Tuesday night, and as temperatures fall late Tuesday night, there could be some snow in the higher elevations. The forecast ends with mostly sunny skies. Temperature-wise, with the exception of Monday, temperatures will be below normal for the entire extended forecast.
