Vintage Bones Salon holding Christmas fundraiser for Fayette County Humane Society

FAYETTE COUNTY, WV (WOAY)—A former Fayette County Humane Society employee knows how they’ve been struggling with multiple code reds, and the holidays are especially tough.

Vintage Bones Salon Owner/Groomer Bret Shrewsberry says the organization is in major need and the animals are counting on us to protect and care for them. So she is holding a Christmas fundraiser to try to make a difference.

“They basically need everything. Cleaning and food are the biggest needs, as well as cat litter,” said Shrewsbury. “Bleach, newspapers, towels, Clorox wipes. But they also need cat and dog food, blankets, towels, treats like enrichment items for the dogs — toys to play with.”

It means so much to the groomer to help the FCHS like this. She says our furbabies are wonderful, forgiving creatures.

“Growing up, animals have always been there for me,” she said. “I love this state and I want to see West Virginia get better with animal care and teaching people animal education.”

There are programs available to spay and neuter your pets.

“Adoption is (also) very much needed,” said the groomer. “And while purebred dogs are nice you can find just as nice of a dog in a shelter.”

Shrewsberry is proud to host this holiday fundraiser.

“That way nobody has to make the drive down to the shelter, and I can just make one big donation,” she said. “We’re starting today (11-26-24); I’m gonna end it on Friday, December 21st, and take it down on the 22nd — that morning.”

* According to Shrewsberry, anyone who donates gets a puppy or kitten angel with their name of choice added to the salon wall.
