For those who may not know the tale, “The Nutcracker,” tells the story of a young girl named Marie, or Clara in other versions, who’s gifted a nutcracker on Christmas eve. The tale goes on to tell the adventure they take together on that fateful night.
Beckley Dance Theatre prides itself on giving the audience a professional-grade performance while bringing the festive spirit.
“The students here are trained to be professionals, and they start their rehearsals and August, they have their auditions in August,” explained Pat Almond, Stage Manager. “We start major rehearsals back in September, and they rehearse every week. They put hours and hours and hours into this. So, they I mean, it’s just amazing what these girls can do. Amazing.”
“I just think that it is a wonderful holiday experience to come and see our Nutcracker. And I don’t think that if you haven’t seen it before, that you know the scope of what we’re doing,” said Almond. “But I think you’ll find that we do a very professional performance and it’s entertaining and it kind of leads you into the Christmas season.”
