Mild weather ahead, with chances for rain

It has been a sunny, but cooler, afternoon today compared to where we were yesterday. But today’s highs are a few degrees warmer than they were on Tuesday, so the temperature roller coaster is definitely in effect!
The winds have been breezy at times as well, and if they stay that way, it will be warmer than it would be if they calm down. For now, that’s what we’re expecting, so lows will be in the lower 30s in most areas, with some upper 20s in some areas.
Tomorrow, we’ll keep the clear skies, and with a westerly flow, highs will go back up once again. Most of us will top out around the 60-degree mark. As the day goes on, a warm front will overspread the state, and this will trigger some showers. The majority of any showers that pop up will be early Saturday morning, but an isolated shower or two is possible late Friday night as well.
It looks like the Friday night football action shouldn’t be wet, but a rain jacket just in case is a good idea. Lows tomorrow night will be held up by the cloud cover and will be in the mid-40s for the most part, so the precipitation that we see will fall in the wet form almost everywhere, with any snow or mixes of precipitation confined to the highest elevation locations.
The weekend ahead starts with the chance for rain showers continuing through the morning and into the early afternoon, before skies clear. With the area south of the warm front, highs will be in the lower 60s. Saturday night and Sunday morning, the cold front portion of the low swings through and produces more shower chances. An isolated storm could rumble through the area, but most of the heavy stuff will stay to our north. Decent rainfall totals will help to alleviate the persistent drought, which has been improving over the last few weeks. Highs on Sunday will be in the mid-50s but may occur early in the day as the cold air behind the front invades the state.
Early next week, we’ll see another system come into the region, and that will give us another chance for rain. Yet another system moves through on Thursday as the weather pattern stays active. Temperatures go up and down as well, generally rising ahead of the lows, then dropping back after they move away.
