Raleigh County, WV (WOAY) – The Youth Museum of West Virginia will present a History Alive program on Sunday.
The program is put on by the West Virginia Humanities Council and is happening at the museum’s amphitheater at 2 p.m.
It focuses on Ruby Bradley, a Spencer, West Virginia native who was a prisoner of war during World War II.
She was held in a Japanese prison camp from 1941 until 1945. She worked as a nurse even while imprisoned.
After the war, she was named chief nurse of the Eighth Army and supervised over 500 nurses during the Korean War.
She attained the rank of colonel in 1958.
The program is free and will last for an hour to an hour and a half.
