YMCA needs coaches for youth sports this Spring

The YMCA of Southern West Virginia needs volunteer coaches for youth sports this Spring. Volunteer coaches offer an important service to young players and their communities, and without them, many kids may miss out on an experience that leads to a lifelong love of sports. Anyone interested in leading kids in a soccer, flag football, or other sports season this Spring should reach out to Josh Bennett at the YMCA of Southern West Virginia for more information.

“It’s important that we have coaches, because without them, the kids can’t play. They need coaches to play, and it’s got to be more than just a few. We’ve had hundreds of kids sign up, so, for instance, I have one league where I’m still looking for two coaches, and if I don’t find those two coaches, we’re forced to have, say, 13 kids per team, and only four kids can play at a time. So you do the math there; it’s hard for kids to get the proper playing time to enjoy the sport and have a good time out here, but that’s the biggest reason: Without those guys, it just doesn’t happen.”
