Wyoming East High School club continues recycling efforts amid pandemic

WYOMING COUNTY, WV (WOAY) – One of the major sources for recycling in Wyoming County is Wyoming East High School’s Friends of the Earth Club.

This club has always been student-driven, but has not been working with current high school students throughout the summer during COVID-19. As the school year approaches, the hope is that there will be a way for currents students to safely participate.

“We’re trying to work with our alumni students and not any kind of current students,” said Friends of the Earth Club Sponsor Brittany Bauer. “It has decreased the amount of times that we’re getting together. We make sure that we’re social distancing. We keep our numbers down to about five students, or former students, I still call them students. We keep our numbers down and we’re just trying to be cognizant of the social distancing. We have different stations.”

Professional development for Wyoming East High School begins tomorrow, and will hopefully offer more answers for student involvement.
