Oceana, WV (WOAY) A Wyoming County man is facing multiple charges involving allegations of sexual abuse of a child.
The Wyoming County Sheriff’s Department says 41-year-old Roger Dean Belcher Jr. of Oceana was arrested Friday by members of the Wyoming-McDowell Crimes Against Children Task Force.
According to the Sheriff’s Department, Belcher faces six counts of sexual abuse by a parent or guardian and six counts of second-degree sexual assault.
The charges stem from a complaint received by the task force in May.
Investigators allege the abuse occurred over approximately six years and involved a female juvenile victim who was about six years old.
Belcher is being held at the Southern Regional Jail on a $600,000 cash-only bond.
The sheriff’s department says all suspects are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
