WVU’s Quinerly picked in WNBA draft

Morgantown, WV (WOAY) – West Virginia University women’s basketball player selected in the third round of the WNBA draft.

According to a media release from WVU athletics, The Dallas Wings picked WVU women’s basketball standout JJ Quinerly as the 27th overall pick in the WNBA draft.

Quinerly finished her career at WVU with 2,016 points. She is the first player in program history to finish with 2,000+ points and 300+ rebounds, steals and assists.

In her time at WVU Quinerly also ranks No. 3 all-time in points scored (2,016) and No. 5 all-time in scoring average (16.00). She averaged 20.38 points per game in 2024-25 marking just the fifth time in program history a Mountaineer has finished a season with a 20 points per game scoring average and is the first since 1992.

The Norfolk, VA native becomes the 11th player in program history to be drafted by a WNBA team and is the first since 2021 when Kysre Gondrezick was selected No. 4 overall and a first-round pick by the Indiana Fever.
