WVU Tech sees successful first week during return to campus

BECKLEY, WV (WOAY) – WVU Tech is finishing up their first week back on campus, with great success according to university officials.

WVU Tech tested all their students and faculty for COVID-19 just two weeks ago, and out of more than 1000 tests, only two came back positive. According to the director of university relations Jen Cunningham, the faculty is proud to have such few cases, but they’re still going to be taking all precautions seriously.

“We did the baseline testing to help us know where we are and so we can prepare to move forward, but it’s important that we don’t take that as ‘Oh everything’s good to go we can just move forward.’ It’s really important that we keep focused on the protocols and keep our distance, wear our masks, keep each other safe and practice social distancing and hygiene,” Cunningham said.

WVU Tech has roughly 1,100 students attending both online and throughout the Beckley area. According to university officials, the student body is doing a great job at taking precautions and keeping everyone safe.
