Princeton, WV (WOAY)- West Virginia University Medicine, Princeton Community Hospital, is being recognized for its outstanding commitment to infant health.
The hospital’s Women’s Center has received the Perinatal Award from the state’s Division of Immunization Services — an honor given to just one facility each year for its efforts in protecting newborns from hepatitis B.
While hepatitis C continues to affect hundreds of babies each year in West Virginia, hepatitis B exposure remains rare, thanks in part to strong vaccine laws and frontline care.
Hospital staff play a vital role, especially in communities hard hit by the opioid crisis, ensuring at-risk babies receive life-saving vaccines and follow-up care right from birth.
Hospital leaders say this recognition highlights the importance of taking early action to give every child a healthier start in life.
