Morgantown, WV (WOAY) – The West Virginia University football program unveiled a new football uniform with an old twist on Monday.
The pictures posted to various social media platforms by WVU Athletics are a tribute to the 1965 Mountaineer football team which took the field 60 years ago this season.
The navy-blue football jersey features no lettering outside of the player’s number and the Big 12 Conference and Nike logos. The uniform is also paired with old gold pants with a navy-blue stripe down the side.
The old gold helmet has the state’s outline in light blue with “WVU” in block lettering over it.
