West Virginia (WOAY)- The West Virginia University Extension Family Nutrition Program has kicked off its 2025 “Grow This” throwdown.
Free garden seeds are available to West Virginia residents who complete a short online survey.
This year’s challenge is a space mission.
An astronaut is stranded and in need of your help with only enough supplies to last her a few months.
Her survival depends on her green thumb and ability to grow her food.
To help out, WVU has launched command centers in 200 locations in all 55 counties.
Your mission, should you choose to accept it, will be to visit your chosen command center in March to pick up your seeds and instructions.
After that, you will await further instructions as there will be challenges that require you to work with your command center.
The top three counties will earn thousands of dollars in grant funding to help improve their communities.
