WOAY – West Virginia men’s basketball is headed to the Big 12 Tournament championship game for a third straight year after defeating Texas Tech 66-63.
Like Thursday’s quarterfinal win over Baylor, the Mountaineers fell behind early, but rallied for a 27-26 halftime lead. WVU pulled ahead 56-48 inside the final seven minutes, before the Red Raiders to tie the game at 56. It would remain a close contest to the finish, with Texas Tech’s game-tying shot going off the rim at the buzzer.
Daxter Miles Jr. led WVU with 22 points, while Jevon Carter added 17; Beetle Bolden was the only Mountaineer to score off the bench. Jarrett Culver led Texas Tech led with 16 points.
West Virginia will face Kansas at 6 PM Saturday for the Big 12 Championship. The Jayhawks won both regular season meetings.
