WVSSAC Boys Basketball State Tournament begins in Charleston

Charleston, WV (WOAY) – The West Virginia Boys Basketball State tournament started in Charleston today, March 18, 2025.

The tournament tipped off with the first match up of the day between the Westside Renegades from Wyoming County and the Doddridge County Bulldogs in the double A classification.

Five teams from Southern West Virginia will compete at the Charleston Coliseum and Convention Center to play over the next 4 days.

Greater Beckley Christian from Raleigh County plays in Class A. Both Westside and Wyoming East are representing Wyoming County in Class AA. The two teams are in separate brackets so there is a possibility the teams could meet in the finals. Returning state champion Shady Spring Tigers from Raleigh County are back to defend their Class AAA title. And the Woodrow Wilson Flying Eagles from Raleigh County are playing in Class AAAA.

Champions in all four classifications will be decided on Saturday March 22. WOAY will bring you coverage of the tournament throughout the week.
