West Virginia (WOAY) Volunteers are needed for this year’s Kanawha River cleanup.
The West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection’s Make It Shine program is recruiting volunteers to help remove litter along the Kanawha River.
The kickoff is set for Saturday, September 12, from 9:00 a.m until noon.
Cleanup sites will be located along the river in Fayette, Kanawha, Putnam, and Mason counties.
WVDEP will provide bags and gloves, haul away the debris, and all volunteers will receive a t-shirt.
Volunteers can register through the West Virginia DEP website or contact event coordinator Chris Cartwright at 304-389-8389.
Cleanups can also be scheduled through October with prior approval.
