WV State Police arrest suspected explosives thief

Wyoming County, WV (WOAY) – A Wyoming County man is arrested for allegedly stealing explosives from a mine site.

According to a press release from The West Virginia State Police, on Saturday, December 07, 2024n Troopers began investigating the theft of explosives at the Bluestone Coal Site 34 in Burke Mountain, Wyoming County. 

Troopers were able to identify 40-year-old Garnett A. Rocchi of Bluefield, WV as a suspect.

Cpl. M. C. Shifflette located and arrested Garnett A. Rocchi on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, on charges of being in possession of stolen explosives material.

Troopers say the investigation is still on going.
