WV Gov. issues state employee travel ban, shuts down state basketball tournaments

CHARLESTON, WV (WOAY) – Governor Jim Justice has issued a state employee travel ban and shuts down state basketball tournaments.

Justice held a press conference Thursday afternoon and announced additional measures to protect those from contracting coronavirus. Justice has issued an out-of-state and international travel ban for state workers.

Justice went on to say that the West Virginia High School Girls and Boys Basketball Tournaments will be shut down at the end of the current session. Those games could possibly be played at a later date.

The Governor is also asking all of West Virginia to consider non-essential travel. You should avoid large meetings and gatherings.

The Governor is asking that all nursing homes restrict visitors unless it’s a life-ending situation or severe illness.
