WV DHHR adds 192 cases and six COVID-related deaths

CHARLESTON, WV (WOAY) – The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources (DHHR) reports as of 10:00 a.m., on September 4, 2020, there have been 448,720 total confirmatory laboratory results received for COVID-19, with 11,037 total cases and 243 deaths.

DHHR has confirmed the deaths of an 88-year old female from Logan County, a 76-year old male from Kanawha County, a 97-year old female from Mingo County, an 84-year old male from Logan County, a 73-year old female from Kanawha County, and an 81-year old male from Kanawha County. “We are deeply saddened by this news, a loss to both the families and our state,” said Bill J. Crouch, DHHR Cabinet Secretary. “Our deepest condolences are extended at this time of grief.”

Please note that delays may be experienced with the reporting of information from the local health department to DHHR. As case surveillance continues at the local health department level, it may reveal that those tested in a certain county may not be a resident of that county, or even the state as an individual in question may have crossed the state border to be tested.

Please note that beginning today, the County Alert System map on the COVID-19 dashboard will not be updated until Saturday, September 5, at 9:00 p.m. in conjunction with the West Virginia Department of Education’s School Re-entry and Nursing Home Visitation maps.
