Charleston, WV (WOAY) The West Virginia Department of Agriculture (WVDA) is now accepting applications for the 2026 Veterans and Heroes to Agriculture Agribusiness pitch competition.
The annual competition supports veterans and first responders interested in starting or growing agriculture-based businesses in the Mountain State.
Participants will pitch their ideas to a panel of judges and compete for funding to help launch or expand their operations.
Commissioner of Agriculture Kent Leonhardt says agriculture provides a strong pathway for veterans returning to civilian life and highlights the leadership they bring to West Virginia agribusiness.
Applications are due January 16.
Finalists will present their pitches March 7 at Cedar Lakes conference center in Ripley.
You can find more information and eligibility details on the West Virginia Department of Agriculture website at agriculture.wv.gov or by calling (304) 558-2210.
