Beckley, WV (WOAY) A Tony Award-winning musical comedy is taking the stage in Beckley tonight.
WV Collective is presenting the 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee musical at The Raleigh Playhouse and Theatre.
The show follows six quirky middle schoolers competing for the championship title, all while navigating the challenges of growing up, from family pressures to self-confidence.
While the characters are students, the roles are played by adult performers, adding to the humor and heart of the production.
Organizers say audiences can expect plenty of laughs, memorable music, and a story that celebrates individuality and resilience.
Performances run now through April 19, with evening shows and weekend matinees available.
Doors open at 6:00 pm this evening, with the house opening at 6:30 pm for seating, and then the curtains will go up at 7:00 pm.
A quick note for families, the production does include some mild adult themes and PG-13 humor.
