Fairlea, WV (WOAY) –Â The West Virginia Army National Guard has set up on the grounds of the State Fair of West Virginia, where soldiers are fielding questions from visitors and showing off a military vehicle.
Guard members say the fair is more about education than enlistment, giving people from across the state a chance to learn what the organization does and what a career in its ranks can offer.
“You have people come through from all over the state to come over here and they talk to us. Pretty much we’re recruiters for the Army National Guard. So people who have an interest or want more information about us, they come by and that’s what we have set up. So it’s easy access for them to come by. And we talk about the benefits and see if that’s something they want to do,” said Staff Sgt. Cameron Workman of the West Virginia Army National Guard.
