WOAY-TV (Oak Hill, WV): As the work week ends, snow continues to fall across the region. Main roads will have slick spots while secondary roads will be snow covered this morning thanks to freezing temperatures. Snowfall will continue through the afternoon, dropping 1-3 inches across the region with slightly less in the Greenbrier Valley. This is less than previous storms have given us, but commutes will still be rough both this morning and evening. Make sure to drive diligently if travel is necessary and stay warm out there. This won’t be the last of the winter weather for the week, so make sure the ice scrapers and winter gear are ready.
The next round of winter weather comes late Saturday night into Sunday morning. A quick-hitting clipper will bring us an inch or two of additional accumulation across the region, yet again causing travel disruptions. Temperatures will also plummet by about 20 degrees, making sure snow and ice will stick to the roads. Commuting is not recommended as more wintery precipitation piles onto the roads. Snowfall from Friday through Sunday will be mostly 3-5″ with less in the Greenbrier Valley and coalfields and more in the high mountains. Snow will stop falling Sunday afternoon, but sunshine will be scarce through the day.

Next week starts off on a nicer note with mostly sunny skies Monday and Tuesday. Temperatures will be bone-chilling to start, but quickly move back above freezing by Tuesday afternoon. From there, temperatures continue to warm up as the next rainmaker approaches our region early Thursday. By then, we’ll have highs in the lower 50s! This will lead to mostly rain on Thursday, though we could see some snow on the backend Friday morning depending on the strength of the frontal system. We will continue to track the end-of-week situation as we get more information. Here’s your 7-Day Forecast:
