WInterplace starts making snow for 2023-2024 ski and snowboard season

Ghent, WV (WOAY) – Winter is coming, and Winterplace is getting ready.

The resort is getting a jump on the cold weather conditions to kick off its first snowmaking push for the 2023-2024 ski and snowboard season.

The resort can cover the area efficiently thanks to recent upgrades to the snowmaking system and strategically placed snow guns.

Winterplace reports snowmaking requires cold temperatures, low humidity, compressed air, considerable water, and plenty of snow guns.

The resort’s snowmaking system consists of almost 100 fully automated fan guns, allowing the team to take advantage of shorter periods.

Winterplace usually prepares to open in mid-December, but the winter season could begin earlier if weather conditions allow it.
