GHENT, WV (WOAY) – Winterplace Ski Resort is still ringing in the spring season with its annual Snowmelt Fest, although the schedule of events has slightly changed due to the warmer weather.
The resort will now close for the season on March 7. Because of this, the Pond Skim event has been moved from March 8 to March 7.
Registration for the Pond Skim is from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Participants will glide across the water starting from the lowest point on the course. The person who makes it farthest will win the grand prize.
The Cardboard Classic is still scheduled for March 7. Registration for this event also runs from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., and the race will begin at 2 p.m.
Teams of two will build sleds from cardboard and duct tape, as well as paint and stickers. The team with the fastest time down the course set up in the snowtubing park wins.
