Oak Hill, WV (WOAY) – The West Virginia Division of Highways has been pretreating roads across the state all day today.
Major roadways, including Route 19, I-64, I-77, and the Coalfields Expressway, have been sprayed with salt brine to make it harder for snow and ice to stick to roads, while also making it easier for trucks to clear the roads.
The DOH says it has one thousand snow plows ready to go, along with blowers and road graders for high elevations.
As of mid-October, there were 186,000 tons of salt and 145,000 gallons of salt brine.
Drivers should stay 200 feet behind working snowplows.
