WOAY-TV (Oak Hill, WV): A fast-moving storm promises to bring a burst of heavy snow that will cause slippery roads.
TIMELINE TONIGHT INTO SATURDAY MORNING:
8 PM to 11 PM: Rain changing to snow. Roads will be covered by 11 p.m.
11 PM to 3 AM: Snow adding up (see accumulation map) and roads everywhere snow-covered. The snow will stick to trees as well. Wind gusts 10-15 mph.
3 AM to NOON: Flurries expected, with trace snow amounts below 2,000 feet and another half inch above 3,000 feet. Main roads rapidly improving after sunrise. Wind gusts to 20 mph.
NOON-Sunset: Mostly cloudy; few lingering flurries above 3,000 feet with gusts to 25 mph. Main thoroughfares will be wet, but secondary roads and alleys will be snow-covered (if not plowed yet) and/or slushy.
After Sunset: Any standing water will refreeze as temperatures drop into the teens and winds relax.
SUNDAY: Full sunshine, gusts to 25 mph and temperatures warming well-above freezing will allow all roadways to dry out.
