Oak Hill, WV (WOAY) Outdoor enthusiasts and trip leaders can sharpen their emergency response skills during an upcoming Wilderness First Aid course.
The WILD Training Institute is offering a two-day Wilderness First Aid certification course on June 1-2 from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. each day.
The 16-hour course is designed for hikers, campers, outdoor group leaders, and anyone spending time in the backcountry.
Participants will learn basic emergency response and assessment skills, treatment for musculoskeletal and soft tissue injuries, environmental emergencies, survival skills, and medical emergencies.
Organizers say the course combines classroom instruction with hands-on practice, outdoor scenarios, and testing to help students prepare for real-life emergencies.
Participants who complete the course will receive a nationally recognized HSI Wilderness First Aid certification valid for two years.
The course costs $280 per person, and participants must be at least 14 years old with current CPR certification.
The training will be hosted in Oak Hill, with nearby lodging available through ACE Adventure Resort.
