Wet weather now, wet again later this week

The radar was full once again this afternoon after we saw (and heard!) some lightning and thunder early this morning. There wasn’t any heavy damage reported around the area, and power outages were few and scattered. More rain is in the forecast, and again, there could be some storms around the area later this evening. The radar showed showers all afternoon and evening.

While there isn’t any severe weather around now, there is still a possibility later tonight. The area is still in the marginal risk category for severe storms. If any of the storms do become severe, damaging winds are the main threat, by far, with large hail and an isolated tornado possible, but not likely.

The active weather pattern continues for the rest of the week, and temperatures are the big question. It looks like we’ll be on the warm side of the stationary front draped over the Ohio Valley, so temperatures will remain warm. But the cold air will not be far away, so a few miles of difference in the front’s position could mean a much colder week.

If the front is a little further south, it could also lead to a very wet week. The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch from Wednesday evening until Sunday for areas to our northwest. Multiple rounds of heavy rain could lead to flooding, and perhaps even flash flooding, for areas along the Ohio River and its tributaries.
