Kanawha County, WV (WOAY) – The West Virginia State Government is accepting public comments on $625,000,000 in broadband funding.
Governor Patrick Morrisey said in a press release that West Virginians should view the draft proposal and leave comments on both. You can find both of those on our website woay.com.
The money is coming from the National Telecommunications and Information Administration. It was originally funded through the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act of 2021 and was restructured by the Trump Administration.
It would expand broadband internet access at approximately 74,000 locations around the state, many in rural areas.
The proposal is due to the federal government by September 4.
