West Virginia Secretary of State Kris Warner issued a friendly reminder for candidates

Kanawha County, WV (WOAY) – As this campaign season is well underway, West Virginia Secretary of State Kris Warner issued a friendly reminder for candidates to avoid placing signs on government property.

According to the West Virginia state code, political signs are not permitted on federal, state, county, or city property, including right-of-ways and roadsides.

Those convicted of violations are guilty of a misdemeanor and can be fined up to $100 per sign.

At the same time, Warner says that removing or destroying properly displayed signs is also a criminal offence.
