West Virginia Public Service Commission approves Mountaineer Gas Company pipeline plan

West Virginia (WOAY)- The West Virginia Public Service Commission greenlit an agreed-upon five-year settlement regarding pipeline replacement and upgrades for Mountaineer Gas Company.  

Mountaineer Gas petitioned the commission on July 31 to approve its 2025 infrastructure replacement and expansion program. 

The company proposed a $418 million investment in infrastructure replacement, system upgrades, and expansion for the period ending in 2029, including $74 million in 2025.  

The application also included $2 million in under-recovery costs on previous work.  

The cost to the average user’s monthly bill will be $2.63, a 2.97% increase.  

Commercial users will see an increase of $6.92 monthly, or 2.03.  

 The commission said the rates would be effective on January 1, 2025.  

The company believes the proposal “will strengthen its distribution system and, over time, create operational and safety benefits for its customers throughout the state.”
