West Virginia firefighter among latest victims of COVID-19

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) — A West Virginia paramedic is among the latest victims of the coronavirus.

Gov. Jim Justice announced Wednesday that Jason Wurster died Tuesday due to COVID-19.

Justice said Wurster was a paramedic from Putnam County and was a firefighter for the Jefferson Volunteer Fire Department near St. Albans.

According to the fire department, services for Wurster will be held Saturday.

Wurster was the department’s chief from 2016 to 2020.
