West Virginia Democratic County and State Conventions will now be held online

CHARLESTON, WV (WOAY) – Due to COVID-19, the West Virginia State Democratic Executive Committee has made the decision to hold county conventions and the state convention online.

Participants and state delegate hopefuls will start the process tomorrow, May 1st,  when the pre-filing period opens by visiting https://wvdemocrats.com/2020countyconventions/ and completing the County Convention Participation Form. County Democrats will have until May 12th at 5 p.m. to pre-file to participate and/or run to be a delegate to the state convention.

“The decision to hold our County and State Convention process online was not taken lightly,” said Belinda Biafore, WVDP Chairwoman. “The health and safety of everyone is our first priority and this was the best way to ensure that everyone wishing to participate could still do so successfully and safely. This is an important time for Democrats in West Virginia and we wanted to be sure that the process was upheld. We are excited to get going and hopeful that participation will be better than ever even if gathering in person is not in the cards this year.”

All participants and State Convention Delegate hopefuls must be registered Democrats and must complete the pre-file form to participate and run. All pre-file forms must be completed at this link: https://wvdemocrats.com/2020countyconventions/ and the deadline for completion is May 12th at 5 p.m. Those running for State Convention Delegate must now pledge to a presidential candidate.
