Charleston, WV (WOAY)- West Virginia American Water (WVAW) customers could see an increase in their monthly water bill following the company’s rate increase proposal to the West Virginia Public Service Commission (PSC).

The company is asking the PSC to approve an approximately $40.6 million water infrastructure system investment for 2025.

If approved, the measure would result in a 2.78% rate increase, about $2 monthly for average residential and wastewater customers using roughly 3,000 gallons.

According to data from the Consumer Advocate Division, this new proposal is the latest in a long string of approved rate increases, which have raised the average American water residential bill for 3,100 gallons from $39.74 to $65.99.

The PSC has not yet ruled on the proposal.
