Raleigh County, WV (WOAY) – West Virginia American Water has acquired the Boone Raleigh Public Service District (PSD) wastewater system.
The transaction follows several months of review by the Public Service Commission of West Virginia, which ultimately recognized the PSD as a failing utility.
West Virginia American Water will offer employment to all current PSD employees while settling all debt associated with the system.
Boone Raleigh PSD serves almost 400 customers along Route 3 in Boone and Raleigh counties.
The PSD has reportedly suffered from customer decline and struggles to maintain adequate service in recent years.
American Water’s next steps include system-wide upgrades and infrastructure replacement to ensure reliable wastewater service.
