Weekend Flooding Breaks Into The Record Books

WOAY-TV (Oak Hill, WV): Not only was the weekend flooding cataclysmic for many locations, but the numbers show it was one for the record books.

Chief Meteorologist Chad Merrill has the latest:

The weekend flash flood will likely rank very close to the catastrophic event on May 2, 2002 for McDowell County. The Tug Fork reached record crest again this past weekend. Check out the stats from the May 2, 2002 flood:

Bluefield: 4th largest 2-day precipitation total with 2.43″

Piney Creek in Beckley: 1.82 Ft shy of record crest (11.47 Ft, March 13, 2010)

Beckley: Fifth largest 2-Day Precipitation Total in February with 2.57″

White Sulphur Springs: 10th largest 2-day precipitation total of 1.96″
