Weather Update: Storms Will Spoil Late Saturday Plans

Oak Hill, WV (WOAY-TV): Fog will develop overnight and then sunshine will emerge on Saturday, however, storms will knock on our door late in the day.

Chief Meteorologist Chad Merrill’s Latest Forecast:

SATURDAY: Sunshine will fade behind cumulonimbus clouds. A round of storms will push across the Greenbrier Valley between 3-6 p.m. with a second round between 7-10 p.m. For the remainder of the region, expect storms between 5-9 p.m. Gusty winds expected along the leading edge of the storms with only isolated wind damage expected. Given Thursday into early Friday’s rain that saturated the soil, flash flooding will develop in a few poor drainage spots. We don’t expect storms to back build and multiple rounds to follow the initial wave of rain.

SUNDAY: Fog prior to 9 a.m. will give way to a gorgeous day with much more comfortable air filtering into our region AND a pleasant northwest breeze will develop during the day.

NEXT WEEK: A front on Monday will spark a fresh round of afternoon showers and storms followed by dry weather Tuesday and then midweek storms are likely as the weather pattern remains active in the central Appalachians.
