WOAY-TV (Oak Hill, WV): Patchy fog is developing across the region, causing visibility issues. If you run into fog during the morning commute, remember to use your low beams and drive carefully. Besides the patchy fog, the morning commute will be smooth once again. Skies will remain partly cloudy, allowing a good amount of sunshine to reach the surface. Temperatures remain in the 50s for most of the morning, but sunshine will warm us up a pinch. Fog will end up dissipating around 10 AM, which is typical for us.
High pressure continues to influence our weather, leading to warm and dry conditions. Skies remain partly cloudy through the rest of the day. Afternoon highs will reach the 70s for the first time in a week, which is good news for the warm weather lovers. It will be a great day to head outside and enjoy, just don’t forget to hydrate! Summer is making a short stop at our region once again. A ridge of high pressure moves into the region from the southwest, resulting in warm and dry weather. High temperatures will steadily increase, eventually reaching 80 degrees on Thursday. Overnight temperatures will be better as well, only dipping into the upper 50s and lower 60s for a few days.
A cold front will slowly move east from the plains, but the high pressure in our area will keep any rain from this system at bay. This system will continue to keep the skies stable, resulting in mostly sunny conditions. If you have any plans Wednesday and Thursday, you are in luck. High pressure will leave the area on Thursday, but its departure will not affect our area until Friday,
Friday morning stays dry and mild, but conditions will change later in the day. As mentioned, the high pressure system will be out of our area. This change will allow the cold front in the Midwest to finally make its approach. Showers can start as early as Friday evening, but activity will remain isolated until Saturday morning. Rain chances increase to 60% through the weekend as the cold front passes and leaves plenty of rain behind.
Showers will remain widespread until Sunday evening. Some showers have potential to bring heavy rain, but the decrease in temperatures will result in overall weaker activity. Thunderstorms are a possibility, but are not as likely. Temperatures between Friday and Saturday decrease almost 10 degrees, and these values only continue to fall as we head into the next week. Monday is trending towards a drier result, but temperatures remain cool. Here’s the 7-Day Forecast:
