Warmer today…wet again tomorrow

It was a much nicer day today around the region than it had been over the past couple of days as the cold air finally retreated ahead of another storm system that will come into the area from the west.
The first system will bring some showers and thunderstorms to our area tomorrow. We’re not expecting any severe weather, but there will be some rumbles of thunder around the area.
There will also be decent rainfall totals in some spots, with some of the atmospheric models that we look at predicting more than an inch by Friday afternoon. There shouldn’t be flooding issues outside of some standing water in low-lying spots and ponding water on the roads – fortunately, we’ve had a chance to dry out from the rain that we saw late last week. Still, the commute will be a wet one, especially during the afternoon. The chance for rain lasts into Saturday before ending. As temperatures drop on late Friday night and early Saturday morning, some of the rain will change over to snow, especially in the higher elevations.
As for temperatures, after a brief warmup to near normal through Friday, the cold weather gives us one parting shot on Saturday, with highs only in the 40s. After that, temperatures are on the rebound again, and by next Monday, highs will be back in the 70s! The warm weather doesn’t last long, however, and highs will drop to below normal again by the middle of next week, with another system bringing the chance for rain along with the cooler temperatures.
