We are looking to remain mostly dry over the next few days across Southern West Virginia. There is a complex scenario unfolding across the Central US through Wednesday that could set us up for more rain going from Thursday through the end of our 7 day forecast. Hurricane Polo is going to curl northeast towards the Baja Peninsula around the Monday timeframe. The remnants of this storm will continue moving to the northeast and go through parts of New Mexico and Texas and could re-strengthen as a low pressure system that has a bunch of tropical moisture with it across parts of the Central US. When and where exactly this moisture sets up could influence some rain showers moving into the Ohio Valley. We will continue to watch this as it develops.
That being said, Saturday and beyond appear most likely for rain in our area, but there is still potential for light and isolated showers Thursday and Friday. The European model hints towards a big stripe of rainfall across Central and Northern West Virginia, but misses out on Southern West Virginia through next Saturday. We will have to watch beyond that timeframe, as trends could bring rain closer.
Looking at that full 7 day forecast, mostly sunny skies await for at least the next few days as we remain mostly dry. The rain potential comes back on Thursday, but isn’t most likely until Friday to Saturday and beyond. Temperatures will also remain fairly chilly with a couple more mornings of upper 40’s before lows shoot back up towards 60. High temperatures will also steadily rebound into the mid to upper 70’s going into mid-week.
