Warm Early-Week Leads To Rain Later On

It has been a pretty mild day today across the region with some showers that moved through during the day. However, those mild conditions are going to come to an end as we expect major heat to come through early-week.

Here is a glance at the rain expected mid-week as Wednesday appears to feature the chance for showers/storms area wide and that rain will continue to linger Thursday as more showers/storms are possible. The atmosphere will definitely contain enough energy for lightning although, severe weather at the moment is unlikely. The rain will even stick with us even further through that timeframe as more rain is possible Friday and Saturday as we watch for another system moving through

According to the European model, widespread rain over an inch could fall throughout our area over the next 7 days, just showing how many days of rain we could be in store for. The European model also highlights some areas exceeding two inches of rain, which would definitely be welcomed with the drought.

Looking at the full 7 day forecast, potential record heat could be seen on Monday and Tuesday. Beckley’s record high for Monday is 87 and has strong potential to be broken. Wednesday and Thursday start to cool down ever so slightly, due to cloud cover and rain that would make the air cool down. Friday appears to be the coolest day of our next 7, but still could see temperatures in the 70’s with plenty of cloud cover.
