We are seeing another warm and humid afternoon around the region, but the shower and storm coverage is greater today than it was yesterday. 
Some of the storms in the Greenbrier Valley are fairly strong, but none of them are severe, something that was the case yesterday as well.
Tonight will be another mild night, with lows only dropping into the middle to upper 60s, once again several degrees above the normal. Tomorrow will feature more of the same compared to today, with highs in the middle 60s again along with a chance for scattered showers and storms.
The first cooler temperatures in a while are coming later in the week, as a front makes its way into the state. The front has some strength and will possibly trigger some strong storms. The Storm Prediction Center has placed areas to our northwest in the “Marginal” risk for severe storms, but our area will more likely see non-severe storms, but the storms that do form could have strong winds and will certainly have heavy rain attached. While flooding is not likely, it is possible and issues such as standing water in low lying spots and ponding water on the roads.
After the front is gone, temperatures will drop off nicely, with highs in the middle 70s for several days – including both weekend days – as the cool air that has been bottled up in Canada recently is finally able to break through. Lows on Sunday and Monday morning will be in the 50s over most of the area, with some lower 60s in the typically warmer spots and lower to middle 50s in the high elevations!
There will be small chances for showers, but no storms, by early next week. Better chances for rain are just beyond the extended forecast with another system approaching by the middle of next week. Ahead of the next system, we’ll be back around 80 for the high by next Tuesday.
